A Big Thanks To:
NORTHAMPTON COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY ALLIANCE GRANTS $4,000 TO MEALS ON WHEELS OF NORTHAMPTON COUNTY
Bethlehem, PA – May 20, 2014- Meals On Wheels of Northampton County is proud and grateful to accept a grant in the amount of $4,000.00 from the Northampton County Medical Society Alliance in support of Meals On Wheels Better Fresh Project. This project will support the purchase of seasonal fruits and vegetables from local farms to include in meals provided to our clients.
The Northampton County Medical Society Alliance is a group of physicians and spouses addressing healthy needs of the community. NCMSA also provides scholarships for those interested in pursuing the medical field.
The Better Fresh Project was recently established with a generous grant provided by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. The project will support the purchase of seasonal fruits and vegetables from local farms to include in meals provided to our clients. The need and importance of nutritious fruits and vegetables for seniors is apparent as it can help ward off, lessen or in some cases, alter potential health threats and problems such as: cardiovascular disease, many forms of cancer, constipation, hypertension, etc. For this reason, we are most grateful for the generous support provided by the NCMSA and their personal concern for the nutritional needs of older adults in the community.
