BJ’S CHARITABLE FOUNDATION GRANTS $8,000 TO MEALS ON WHEELS OF NORTHAMPTON COUNTY
July 31, 2013- Meals On Wheels of Northampton County recently received an $8,000 grant from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation. Meals On Wheels will use the grant to help subsidize the cost of meals for low income older and disabled adults in need of meal assistance.
“BJ’s outstanding generosity will help to subsidize approximately 8,000 meals for seniors with the greatest financial need. Their support will provide seniors with both good nutrition and the opportunity to continue living in their own home for as long as possible,” said JoAnne Bergeron Nenow, Executive Director.
Meals On Wheels of Northampton County has been in operation for 42 years. The mission of the organization is to support healthy living through the delivery of nutritional services. This year, Meals On Wheels will prepare approximately 475,000 meals at their facility in Bethlehem Township. In addition to home delivered meals, the organization offers Grocery Shopping Services and Chef’s Packs (frozen meals) for purchase by seniors.
“The BJ’s Charitable Foundation is dedicated to supporting hunger prevention, self-sufficiency, healthcare and education in the communities surrounding our Clubs,” said Jessica Newman, Executive Director of the BJ’s Charitable Foundation. “BJ’s Charitable Foundation donated to nonprofit charitable organizations across our footprint during this grant cycle, and we hope these donations benefit the incredible efforts of our partners working to impact the lives of individuals and families and enable them to continue to provide crucial services to those in need.”
